Wax isn't the issue, fuel is. It *has* to be a two-part clear coat with hardener.

I used the Eastwood Eurethane Clear. Very happy so far.

There is,, but I've never seen it in person or tried it. I did mine with a $15 harbor freight touch up gun and a borrowed compressor.

+1 on the harbor freight touchup gun. cant beat it the paint atomized great the larger gun not so much. the clear leavels beautifully with the smaller gun. onsale for like 15 bucks I have done 3 with the same gun bought the larger one now I just use it for primer,

spend a couple bucks on a cheap gun and good clear you will much happier when you are done.

Agreed.

OldManRock used a pump-sprayer. You could find his thread or PM him about it or maybe he'll post that info here, but I remember it costing more than the HF gun. The compressor I borrowed was only like an 8 gallon tank type. The touch up gun takes a lot less air than the bigger gun.

This is the gun I used (or very similar):

This is the compressor I used (or very similar):

There are constantly 20% off coupons available for Harbor Freight also...

I found this gun also, which might even be better since it is gravity/suction fed rather than just suction (less air flow required I believe):

Yep, 3CFM rating for the pink gun, 4.7CFM for the one I used. But I can only vouch for the silver one, personally.

I also want to add that a friend of mine went the spray can route (a product from Eastwood) and it didn't turn out nearly as well as the two-part that I sprayed. It has a dull finish to it that doesn't look like a nice clear coat.

I can't say if it was the product, the paint he used, or the person - I didn't help him apply it.

I think others on here have used a different spray can product and had good luck with it, I don't remember what it was called and remember it being very hard to find.
