Does this help it adhere and harden? Im think of cooking my clearcoat on my tank at 350 after i paint it.

I would think 350 would be too high. Maybe somewhere along the lines of 150-200. Supposedly it helps to make things more durable but the main thing about baking is that instead of waiting a month to wax and polish the paint, you can do it after a few days.

I've never baked a gas tank, but plenty of brackets, mounts & other metal parts. They will produce a ""Smell" at 350 F, just have the windows open afterwards to air the house out.

It hardens up the paint, so after cooling they can be installed on the bike.

Right on. Thanks guys. I will aim for 175 for what like 20 mins?

Yea I'm think doing the gas tank might be a bad idea. I will stick with all the brackets and assorted small stuff I am doing. Think I will create some kind of rack that will fit in my home oven.

What I found is "About 140ºF for 5 or 6 hours seemed to work OK. It will really stink up the house at first as it degasses so open your windows if possible...."

140F is about MAX you want to heat the paint up to. Much more than that you will be looking at one big blister or many small ones. Baking paint is only as a last resort. Natural cure is always the best way to go.

Read the spec/product information sheet on the paint. I work in a paint shop (kitchen cabinet/wood/furniture). Our product calls for 50C for 30 minutes. It also has a varialble time, like 40C for 45 minutes...
350F sounds a little high.
The product info sheet will answer this question.

Baking also smooths out the paint, making for a nicer finish. I do that a lot on small parts. Don't do it with plastic.
