Spraymax 2 part clear coat question was created by Topper
I just laid a few coats of Spraymax 2k clear coat on my tank and side covers.

I can't find any info on either the can or the Spraymax website about wait time before sanding and polishing.

If it were a standard rattle can clear I'd wait a week to let it cure. Do I need to do that with the 2k clear?

Permanent and perpetual noob.

Can't speak of this particular product but most 2 - 3 part clears w/hardner/accelerator what ever only require ~ 24 hours cure time...

sorry Rock, I beg to differ. Urethane paints cure (and shrink) for as much as 90 days. This is why all of the sudden after a few months of having a beautiful water like paint job you can notice orange peal. First of all I have no idea how you get a two part urethane in a rattlecan, but I have gone threw gallons and gallons of two part paints om everything from Aircraft to bikes. I would however have no idea on rattlecan full cure. All I have ever used those for was to touch up rivet heads and screw heads.

Otto, was speaking of clear part only, not paint for different story/concept entirely... ;)

Well that's clear as mud ;) Sounds like 24 hours should be sufficient. Thanks!

I thought that WAS what we were discussing, Clear. ???? But still I have no idea on how you can have a two part of any kind in a spray can.

It has an internal bladder in the can. You push a button on the bottom of the can and puncture the bladder adding the catalyst. It's pretty hard to push the button but you know it when you do. You then have something like 24 hrs to use it. It's pretty neat. I have yet to see if it stands up to gas but it does advertise that it stands up to most solvents.

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

I guess that's a real two part clear in a can. That is truly ingenious.

Yes Urethane paints are intended to be sanded and polished. I normally apply 2-3 coats about 45 minutes apart than i allow to harden for seven days and than I do my first sanding and polishing. First I sand with 420 extremely lightly than I sand with 600 till no glossy is visible than I sand with 1200 and finally with 3000. Finally I polish. After 90 days if I see ANY orange peal I sand again with 600 than 1200 than 3000 and polish again. I normally apply 3-4 coats of clear. When sanding you MUST stay away from any edges or you will sand threw the clear.

The hardness of the Urethane is Much Much harder than Lacquer. If you don't sand it within the first seven days you will be sanding for ever. The stuff is that hard. It keeps on hardening for about 90 days.
