Gas Tank Removal was created by sevenfiftyman
Hey everybody. Looking for some tips on how to remove the gas tank on an 82 KZ750E-3. Would like to know how to remove the tank, as well as drain gas lines so i don't make a mess. Thanks.

I haven't done your model, but the drawing looks like you just open the seat, remove the bolt at the rear base of the tank and pull it up and back off the dampers. First shut off the petcock - (YOUR PETCOCK MAY NOT HAVE AN OFF POSITION so follow other's advice on this part) and remove the fuel line and disconnect the fuel gauge connector. As long as the petcock doesn't leak if you remove the fuel line from the petcock there shouldn't be more than a couple drops of fuel dripping out. But wear safety goggles if you're not sure about the condition of the petcock. You could also use a piece of clear tubing to syphon most of the fuel out of the tank first if you want. Ed
