Which seat???

My 78KZ1000A2A that I have only had for a few weeks needs a seat. It came to me with a stepped seat like an LTD, most people I talk to say this is incorrect and that it should have the flat (loaf of bread) seat. So I called Z1 and they say the flat seat although in the parts catalog they only offer the stepped seat cover in the A2A section???! Redline Racing seems to indicate the stepped seat as well... I Googled images of 78 KZ1000 and it seems about 50%/50% WTF?? Are the seat pans the same? can you recover for whichever seat you choose? So what's the "truth"?

Your bike came stock with a flat seat...a common 'upgrade' was to drop on an LTD seat. The seat pans are identical but the cover and foam are different....both are available as aftermarket and you can use your existing seat pan.

I believe that the stepped seat mod was real popular back in the day. If the bike is an A2A then I believe that it should have the flat seat to be correct. Heck, my A2 had the stepped seat, LTD tank, and LTD badges by the time it got to me. A lot of stuff can get changed in 33 years.

The flat seat is the correct one for the KZ1000-A2a. (See pics)

anybody know where to get a stepped seat for a 79 kz 750?, the flat seat is in great shape, i just want a little back support< if that will even help
