Paint or rechrome from fender on a 76 KZ900 was created by Sactown900
the chrome on my front fender is not as bad as the front spokes, but beyond 00 steel wool and chrome polish. Should I re-chrome it, look for an aftermarket LTD fender or find away to paint it when I repaint the occidized original green body parts.
Since I may have to do a complete tear down (rust pits in black frame) I thought I might shop for a chrome/or not fender

Paint it. I personally like the painted front fender. Just sand it or sand-blast it and prep it before painting and it will be good to go. I painted mine over 20 years ago and it held up. Fenders show up on E-Bay all the time if you want to stay with chrome. Look at them real careful and you can find one in good shape from time to time.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

i'd either leave it alone or look for a good used one, or if not easily found have it rechromed. Definately not paint the fender. Don't repaint your original paintwork either regardless of condition.

I painted my fender and the black part of my mags body color, and I think it looks badass if I do say so myself.

Less stock looking then paint maybe, more stock then chrome, it's your bike and your vision. On my bike I tried to make it so if I ever wanted to go back to stock I would just have to swap parts in and out.

I would agree with that if it was a little more rare of a bike. Change whatever you want if it's a rider and you know it's not a resto. Have fun with it.

Thanks guys. I bought one of those Mothers red buffing balls and Metal poilish. It got allot of the white oxidation off the forks and cases (but I drained two batteries on drill driver, LOL)
I will will deal with rust, oxidation and fenders when it runs. I think carb cleaning is first then, try to start it.
I will try to remember photos as I go.
