Does anyone have any good fixes to broken off metal spikes to the seat pan on a 1981 KZ550?

One of the bikes I bought came with large flange pop rivets holding the cover on. Seems to work well, but probably wont be any fun to remove.

Either big flange pop rivets or just use washers and pop rivets. I also heard to put a carpet tack strip around. Remember to put something around the edge like car door protector before you go stretching seat around it.

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

I recovered my quad seat with leather and put some small screws in the original staple holes. Granted a triangular hole might require some experimentation, but the screws allowed *ahem* adjustment of the cover.

BTW, I got an entire goat hide for ~$20.
