GPZ Red codes for NAPA paint ? was created by mjg15
I've had good luck with the reasonably inexpensive automotive paint at Napa. Has anybody gotten the GPz red mixed there? My local store doesnt have the codes or matching machine. I already have plenty of their clear and reducer, and I didnt want to have to buy all that stuff again if I use a different brand of paint.

From the two cans of Firecracker red sray paint I've got, I see # K61062-606C
One can has K5759W from colorite on it, and the other 0007-40-90 from Kawasaki.

Don't know about NAPA, but I have purchased, from O'Reillys, Dupli-color paint pens which are pretty close to my GPz's...(label info = NG FM 306, Cardinal Red, Ford, EA, E4) and also inherited a pint of close match from the PO of the 1100 that he had mixed/matched. Info from that label = Mercury Capri, 1991, Cardinal Red, EA. Dupont Chroma Premier paint. I also have the tinting guide info, if you need it.

Thanks McDroid,
That sounds like what I need to know. It looks pretty close to the red on the Mazda Miata in my garage too. Either should be close enough for what I need to do. My tank and tail are mint, but I have to a do front fender, side panles and a fairing.

Good call on the color, Mcdroid !
I did the fender, the other parts are OEM paint
On the bike, and in outdoor lighting. The side cover, front fender, and fairing are repainted with Cardinal Red

Thanks, first time spraying body parts.
I still have to do the fairing and a pair of side covers, and both of them are going to need some prep first.
It was a bit of an adventure getting the paint:
After getting the color info above I went back to NAPA, and they didnt have a listing (that the guy could find) for Ford/Mercury Cardinal Red. Since the GPz color is very close to my Mom's Miata, that shares the garage with my bikes, I just had him mix up a pint of Miata red, figuring that I'd give that a try. He told me that it would take 30 min. to get it ready for me.....
So instead of sitting around waiting, I went across town to an auto paint specialty store that had the color scanner. I had them scan the sidecover that is in the pic. The color came back as an exact match for a Master Craft boat color. They mixed it up and it was way lighter......So I said "Ford/Mercury Cardinal red is supposed to be close". I bought a pint of single stage and went back to NAPA to get my Miata red. I'll give the Miata paint a try at some point, it's base/clear, but the Cardinal red single stage was a good match for sure
