modifying tailsection

My brother wants to stretch the tailsection on his bike to try to cover up some tire on his 10" over swingarm. Has anybody done this or have any suggestions on how to go about it. I was thinking of getting a couple used ones and trying to cut them and 'glass them back together. Any ideas or tips on how to go about this and make it look good?

If I recall correctly, there were extra-long KZ tail cowls made for just such an occasion. It has been a while since I have seen one (although, truth be told, I haven't paid much attention to them). I seem to recall them being available periodically on eBay.

you can use two tails, mold them together and you would end up with a longer stock-looking tail...just cut the middle section of one tail, and mold it in between the end of the tail and the front part using plastic bumper repair...sand it smooth, prime and paint

I'm still curious what bike you're asking about Andy. I have plans for a 2" stretched Z1 tail.....
