Tank swap was created by SlowRoad
I have a 1983 KZ1100-A1 that I am modifying and have a question about tanks. I would like to have a more rounded style tank on the bike to better fit the direction that I am going rather than the more square factory tank. Is there a different tank that is a direct fit for this frame, or will I have to make mods no matter what other tank I use?

Thanks for you advise in advance.

Tim

I've been lookin at a similar idea but on a different bike (kz 1300) my bet is ur gonna have do some modding whichever way u go, how much just depends ... if they used that frame on a model with a tank u like maybe ... but the odds of that are pretty slim.
I just hate those squared tanks

That's kinda what I was thinking, but thought this would be the place to find out.

I owned an '80 KZ1300 several years ago. Wish I had it back. It had the big fairing "not sure who made it" and Vetter bags. It would scream, but started having charging problems.

After about $800 and still had the problem, I got frustrated and traded it for an atv.

Live and learn!!

Mine had a different fairing and bags. Fairing had a more squared off front and the bags were the Vetter removable bags that were popular during that time. My KZ1100 had the same bags on it. Also no trunk.

No idea on the 1100, but I have a 1300 and a Voyager. I could check and see if the tanks would interchange. You still have the trip computer and it's mounts to contend with though.:(
