Will this be a motor or something that gets a lot of heat?

Should work. Auto clear would work best. Make sure its clean and put several coats..

no, just outdoors....max heat 100 degrees, or inside too. rain would be the worst weather and sun beating down on it. its acually a sculpture. and its steel horseshoes.

Automotive clear would be the most durable, but also the most expensive option. You could try a marine grade varnish or something like that to see how well it works, and switch to auto clear if it doesn work out.

you stay on track.......horseshoes will be welded together making them too large for a conventional oven. 100 degrees outside...max temp, but would hi temp be more durabe?
