Tank Stripe Removal

Is ther a safe way to remove the gold stripes on my 1975 Z1 tank without damaging the paint. The original paint on the tank is great, but one of the gold stripes is bad. I planned to buy new replacement stripe decals from Jeff @ Z1 Enterprises.

im thinking ive seen a funny looking sponge wheel that goes on a buffer for removing decals,maybe check eastwood.com or someplace like that. ;)i checked their website they had everything but that listed,maybe check with snap-on or somebody like that.does anybody have one of their catalogs handy?:whistle:
