Champions were never the standard plugs. Use ND W22ES-U. Ed

Bondo 'em up, hit it with some 320 grit, and shoot it flat black. They should look great!

If you use NGK I HIGHLY recommend the B7ES over the B8ES. I originally used B8ES in my bike and they tended to soot up and occasionally #1 would foul when starting the bike. I used B8ES because the original 1st edition Kawasaki factory service manual called for them. I bought a later manual and noticed it called for B7ES plugs. I switched and never had the problems again. I ride in a pretty spirited fashion, but I think the B8ES was recommended because the factory test guys really ran the hell out of these bikes during original testing in 1976. If your bike is stock and you're not running on the track try the B7ES first if you try NGK plugs. If they burn too hot, as in pure white insulators, try the B8ES. Ed

Try this Motorcycle cross reference.
www.gadgetjq.com/spark_plug_cross_reference_motorcycle.htm
As with a lot of things, the plugs have been updated with technology. The B8ES we all have run for ever are a wide range plug with a pretty basic electrode. Plugs offered by NGK include better electrodes in the same heat range and reach. B8EV is but 1 example, thin wire type electrode. ND offers there U Groove, Bosch has several. Champion would have been a N-2C I believe, I've never tried the Split-Fires, but have replaced many with only half the fork on the side electrode left.
