KZ750 ltd H2 1981 custom belt buckle idea was created by angel_uk
hi riders
i've just created a new custom addition to my projection restoration bike. i've found on ebay us, a vintage solid brass kawasaki belt buckle and thought of a great way to use this great buckle to help to customise my pillion pad.
i don't have any brazing or welding facilities here, my dad set me a challenge to fix the buckle to my bike in the cleanest way possible.
1) i'd to file the buckle on the back to make it flat. i didn't polish it to give it a 'key' for fixing.
2) using the now flattened buckle, i used it as a template on a piece of aluminium and made a plate a few mm's bigger than the buckle. i then drilled some holes and countersunk them.
3) the back of the 1981 is wood. i've replaced the wood inside with marine plywood and then using countersunk woodscrews, screwed the 'alum back plate'. this is now the base for my eagle buckle.
4) i then glued it into place with JB Weld and it's as solid as a rock now.
5) i've now bought a small LED rear/stop light, which i will mount onto the pad fixing plate.
No visable screws and this is the first mod like this i've ever done!
best wishes
Angel

That is pretty cool. At first glance I thought it was some HD emblem  Jesus, and I just had my eyes checked too

Might i suggest that u cover the red and yellow wires with a black sleeve to conceal them.
It looks great.

hi matey
thanks for that! do you really think i would leave it all naked like that?
the pillion pad is not yet finished.
seriously we've not assembled the bike fully yet. the siss bar is still on the garage rack. the siss pad led wires will be fed through the tube side and then brought out at the bottom to connect to the stop and brake light. you wont see any wires at. it will look clean and wireless!
what bike do you ride bud?
take care and thanks for the hint!
kind regards
