KZ1000 Bodywork and Tank - Interchangable?

Hey all-

I'm getting ready to pick up a nice '79 KZ1000 E1 (shaft). It has the more angular tank on it (I believe that this was the year that Kawa changed the tanks and bodywork).

I really like the look of the older tanks and body work. Just out of curiosity, if I want to swap in the older tank and bodywork at some point down the road, will they bolt right up?

I know that some will find this silly, but if it's a bolt-on operation and I keep the original stuff, who cares, right?

Nothing but KZ1000E bodywork will fit. Other stuff may be adaptable with a little work, never tried.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Ron is correct...you are stuck with the 'E' motif.

That just means you'll need to employ some artistic tools of the trade to make it work...Namely a grinder and a welder ;)
