quick decision

ok, so i really want to get a rear tail section for my bike, but when i search "1981 kz1000" on google images i get pictures of bikes with multiple different tail sections. can someone tell me which one actually is supposed to go on the back of mine?!?!? im sure i could make any of them fit, but i want the one that will bolt right on with no issues.

Now, I'm certainly no expert, and if I'm wrong someone more knowledgable will correct me, but your bike wasn't made to have a tail piece. At least not with that seat and rear fender. Were you planning to swap out the seat and fender also, and just wanted to know what parts to purchase to make the conversion?

porchev914 is correct...there is no tail piece that will "bolt right on". You will have to fabricate a mounting system (see posts by 'otakar' for a finished product) and as has been suggested, possibly change your seat.

Here's a tailpiece I got off ebay for about $15 shipped and put on a 650sr(they did not come with a tail)...had to change the seat too though.

I have an 82 KZ1000 CSR.Bikes were not equipped for tail section.Rear fender is very wide and mounting points are used for shocks,grab rail,etc.I am sure it can be done,but u may end up with no grab rail and for sure a different seat. I have both a short and long tailpiece if u want to try one.bj

man that really sucks! i like the seat, so does the wife lol so i wont be getting rid of that one. i would love to see pics of the two tails you have so i can see if one of them is the one that i want.
