Z1 Replacement Rear Fender Hole Plugs?

I'm referring to the two small hole plugs inside the fender. I think they are bumpers for the maintenance tray?

Perhaps holes where the wiring clips attach to fender.

No, that's not it. If you remove the tail light and look straight into the fender. There's two holes about 1/2" or so in diameter on the plastic tail piece. Had two rubber plugs in there but they are all dry rotted.

Between the tail light and maintenance tray.

I don't recall any bumpers associated with the tray.

Perhaps the fender holes are for wires from underneath the seat through the fender to the tail/brake light and/or turn signal(s).

Or might be for wiring routed underneath the rear fender.

Pic??

Good Fortune! :)

The plugs are removed so there's just 2 open holes there.

My original oem KZ900-B1 LTD tail piece has the same two open holes, plus a 3rd open hole about 1" centered toward rear of the shelf under the tray.

None of the holes appear needed for any type access to anything, and I had never noticed them before.

Wild guessing that the holes might have had some purpose during manufacturing of the tail piece.

Good Fortune! :)

My Father was the original owner of this bike and it's been sitting most of it's life. I took out the 2 plugs from those holes, have no idea what they're for, I thought little bumper stops for that tray? Either way, the plugs were nasty and I can't find them.

There are 2 rubber bumpers that go into those holes. I think they are stops for the tail light assembly which is rubber mounted and could possibly bounce and hit tail and shock the bulb filament????

ok, ther are supposed to be two plugs in these holes. There's corresponding marks on the maint. tray so they are a bumper/damper of some sort for the tray. They are set back too far to have anything to do with the tail light. I can't find the part on the microfiche, so I sent out an email to a rubber plug manufacturer to see about matching them up. You can see they are pretty dry rotted so if they aren't where they should be they most likely fell out at some point.

I would have measured in MM but I thought I might have a better chance of scoring some SAE sized plugs.
