My new 650 plans... was created by ratmeister
Hi all...I traded my 82 spectre for this 1977 KZ650. It has its quirks currently, but will be a great bike when it is done. It already makes me happier than the spectre did.
Here are a few pictures after working on the bike for a couple days. I changed all the lights, moved the license plate (probably illegal, but its temporary anyway), added a chin fairing, added a temporary seat, inverted the bars, and did a basic clean-up on it.
Next step will be a better cleaning job, an engine and pipe polish, new paint all around (gunmetal), and a custom seat and pan...I took her for a spin today and she goes like hell...
Oh yeay, my wife has named her "miss-saki" as I always said I wanted a hot asian chick, and this is as close as I am allowed to get.

Looks good, your off to a great start. If you ever want to get rid of that Yoshimura exhaust I want it. Have fun, I love my 77 KZ650

She DOES move don't she??? It's looking better already...I saw someone say that is a Yoshimura pipe on there...I had no idea that's what I had. No matter. The Spectre now has new daily work clothes...I'll be posting pics soon.

I just got done making my first custom seat...I tried to cut down the original seat foam but my knife was dull and butchered it...
I ended up using some camping mat in the 2 seating places and a very light foam over it all. Then I put on my blue leather-like vinyl and did my best to stretch and glue it, as most of the metal clips on the seat pan were busted. I still need to stretch it again in a day or so as there is already a wrinkle...
Not bad for a temporary fix until I can make a seat pan and get it professionally done...Now I have to paint the bike some color that matches the blue seat and the blue grips I bought originally for the spectre...Probably gunmetal because I still have a few cans left
What do you think? Any other ideas? And no Mark Wing, I am not planning on getting rid of the exhaust, as it looks and sounds bad-ass
