I was thinking about using a sanding drum on my dremel, but I'm not sure how long it will take.
it this the best method, or is there a better tool for this job?

As for cutting, a saber saw with a coarse blade will make quick work of the project, followed by file and dremel sanding drum use.
Keep a spray bottle of water or a damp sponge to cool down the plastic/fiberglass as you cut.

Hey guys, I have a new maier plastic fairing, but the cutouts for the bars are in the wrong place. I need to trim it down some but I'm not sure how to do it and have it turn out looking good (instead of hack up and crappy).
I was thinking about using a sanding drum on my dremel, but I'm not sure how long it will take.
it this the best method, or is there a better tool for this job?

Would changing handlebars be an option?

actually i just went to Daytona bars. I had on the stock mini ape hangers and a vetter fairing, but I wanted something more forward leaning. So I'd rather use the new bars.
The Daytona bars are already much lower than the oem bars shown in the avatar (see below).
Is the maier designed for clip-ons?

I solved it another way. I built an extention for my headlight that pulls it 3-4 inches forward. This will move my entire assembly forward and off the bars.
That's the plan anyway. I'll post pics when it is compete.
thanks for the responses. I decided not to cut anyway.
