Disasterous to down and dirty paint job
29 May 2010 16:49
Hey guys, I just wanted to show off my re-repainted bike.
I took some pointers from some of you guys, and I think it turned out pretty good.
First I wet-sanded it, then spray on some the same old Krylon black, but this time I wet sanded the Krylon, and did not use alcohol to prep it. Finally, I just sprayed it with about 4 coats of clear, and wallah!! Have a look....I can be seen taking the pic with my cellphone in the gloss. I did all this in today, and never waited more than an hour for any one coat to dry.

Very nice! But yes, be careful of gas. I ALWAYS take gas nozzle and point toward ground and shake it first before inserting in tank. You'd be surprised how much fuel comes out of bellows (here in Calif at least) Nice job!!

Well, considering one can almost make out the kind of car in the reflection, I am sure I was smiling when I took the pic.
We are talking Krylon rattle can paint here, people! :woohoo:
The 1000 CSR/LTDs are better looking bikes than the older KZs, and will one day sure pass the KZs in sale price, except for maybe a low serial number 1973 model.
Now back to reality....TY to all who commented on my paint job. I actually put quite a bit of effort into it. This time, I new a little more about putting this kind of pinstriping,in this pattern. Also, I sprayed the final coat of clear over the pinstriping.

I do dream...
That I can take $100 worth of parts, and outrun and outhandle a Suzuki Hawabusi...
That I can spend $25 on spray paint, and sand paper, and the chick who just won the wet T-shirt contest will say "so long" to her HD Fatboy-riding Mr Cool, and climb onto the back of my Kaw, and hang on real tight.:woohoo:
That my bike will be so cool that the masses will follow me like Forest Gump when he went on his run.....
It is good to be so smart, I can put $2, and an hour into an old motorcycle.... and be a king for awhile. It is good to be king......
