Some are held in place with a "Push Nut" something more like a washer with teeth that grabs a stud coming out of the emblem.

If you have a Dremel tool with a small cut off wheel, it's possible with a steady hand to grind and weaken the washer so it can be removed.

If no luck, maybe www.reproductiondecals.com has a solution on removal of the washers/fasteners.

Those push lock nuts are probably brittle from age like mine were. I kinda cut or scored them w a dremel cutoff wheel, then pried under them w a thin-bladed something or another - they kinda crumbled. Maybe yours will too.

I have to remove some for a repaint soon. I was thinking that if I had a problems removing the pins/washers I could drill holes and use a small countersunk screw (similar to most of the tank emblems) to reattach them. It would seem better than $40/ea for new ones.

The replacment sidecover badges are expensive but the quality is 2 X what the oem ones were. The material is much thicker and the paint is perfect.

And I'd hate to think of the oem Kawasaki list price at my local dealer...

I was able to remove those lock washers by prying up on the washer with a very small flathead screwdriver then using a small set of dykes to cut a slit in them. Just pulled right off.

Where can you buy replacement washers?
