dodgy tacho was created by bullitt

hi guys
my tacho when excelerating the needle goes up
to 4 to 5 grand and just hovers arond there when opening
my bike up.the cables ok my camchain and tensioner are
ok,have ape tensioner a godsend is this a knackered tacho
can it be repaired or is something else causing it.
when cruising along the needle is fine just wont go past
5000
any help cheers dave

i think its the tacco.
i bought a new NOS tack from ebay and it did that. aparently there is a damping oil inside, and once its gone, the needle is eratic.

76 KZ, frame gusset work,1200CC.Ported by Larry Cavanaugh, 1.5mm.over intakes, Carron Pipe, ZRX12 rear end, and seat,96zx9 front end.
01 CBR600F4i Track bike.
