Decal set quality?

I have a 76 KZ 900 A4 that I want to get back to near original condition. I see a number of decal sets on e-bay for about $60 plus shipping. Does any one know the quality of these sets? I see sets from a manufacturer for about $140.

i just was asking the same thing not too long ago....a few little answers is all i got on my post but not much...reproduction decals are the best folks say....a direct question sent to the e-bay 60$ decal kit folks got a response that their product was not "the best" out there...they thought by my description of what i was shooting for in a set, that i was asking for a 3-m made set(by the standards i was seeking) and then said honestly thaat they do not sell 3-m brand decal sets....a painter friend said reproduction decals is what he uses with terrific results.....so long story short...while i myself have used neither...i did get a direct answer from a e-bay seller that actualy sells the 65.oo ones...the answer was that theirs ,whil okay, were not the best available......good luck....reading with interest....

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThe 76 did not have decals but stickers. I have a set from eBay and they are nice. Be aware that they must be overcoated with clear. You must also be careful the type of clear that is used. The original clear was Butyrate Lacquer. Some people call that Acrylic Lacquer. Not to be mistaken with Nitrate Lacquer which would not be Gasoline proof. If you overcoat with Urethane Clearcoat, they might migrate because of the time required for curing. Someone who dose this for a living should do it to get a proper result. I bought mine about two years ago and I paid about $45 for mine. these are the ones I bought two years ago. They are identical to "Reproduction Decals" made the same place.

Funny this topic should come up. My tins are down at the painter right now. I ordered the decal kit for the Diamond Dark Green paint job originally from EBAY from z1parts.net(like the ones above). After looking at tons of pictures on the net I thought there was no way they were a good match for the originals so I went ahead and ordered a set from Reproduction Decals. Guess what? They are pretty much the same colors. I can't comment on the quality though as they look fine for me sitting there on their sheets.

Now I have a spare set. If my painter doesn't screw up the set I gave him you can have them for $50.00 shipped if you would like. It looks like it will save you about $25.00.

Good luck.

austin3119,

I see your bike is the Diamond Dark Green. Mine is the Diamond Brown. When I eventually repaint it, I could change it to the green, but I intend to keep it brown. Is the sticker set you have for the green or brown? If it's brown, shoot me a PM to make arrangements.

Cheers,
Ross

Reproduction decals insists on examples of the bodywork before they reproduce the stripes. In the case of the KZ900 decals, we sent Reproduction Decals a set of bodywork to copy.

This guarantees the decals match perfectly in color, width and fit around the bodywork. Many of the other people selling this stuff creates the decals from pictures. We've seen examples on other bikes where lines are way to thick and fonts used for brand and cc size are completely wrong.

We do sell Reproduction Decals decals - the product is the best I've seen. Our pricing is the same as Reproduction Decals price. There are some other decent sets on the market. But the work Andre does is first class. Andre is an enthusiast - he owns a number of bikes - many two-stroke bikes, but he's working on a 900 Kawasaki in his collection. He's a painstaking fanatic when it comes to getting this stuff right.
