Fixing cracked vinyl seats? was created by polkat
I've got an old solo seat I really like and plan to keep using, but the black vinyl it is covered with has some cracks and is missing in some small areas.

I can't afford to get it recovered right now, but I do have some black vinyl material laying around and I was thinking of doing some temporary repairs. So my question is; there are a number of vinyl cements out there. Has anyone used some that actually holds, and what was it?? Thanks!

Heh! Reminds me of that old Napa ad where the guy gets out of his car and trails a 10 foot length of duct tape behind his butt!

Actually, I was serious!

wiredgeorge mentioned using Liquid Electrical Tape to repair seat cracks. I applied it as a seam sealer to the underside of a nos seat cover prior to installing it. After it dries, the stuff seems rather tough & it sticks to the vinyl pretty good.

Since it's just a solo seat, have you looked into getting some marine grade vinyl from a fabric store? That ought to be fairly cheap - $7-8/yard, maybe?
