Before applying anything like the badges, clean the area realy well with some rubbing alcohol and the part too. It removes any oils or substances like this for a good bond.
Double sided tape usually has a one time shot at getting it positioned, but the RTV has a long time(usually several hours) before it sets up, so if you're unhappy with where the badge is, it can be moved somewhat.

I don't have any RTV sealant, but I do have some "no more nails" that I got for another project, I suppose I could use that too.
Careful...some of the construction adhesives might have solvents in them that might damage the ABS plastic...RTV/silicone works well...if you have no RTV and you are unsure of what is in the construction adhesive, use double sided tape...at least you won't damage the sidecover and you can replace with RTV when you get some.

Just an asside, There is a product, "Gorilla Glue".which is frankly, Awkward to use,& messy. It's just Glue, BUT. Once set, Is pretty much permenant. I would imagine, that if used in this application, Emblem or sidecover would be destroyed before removal. In set-up it "Grow's" requiring clamping to keep in place, and unless used in exteeem moderation will weep around glued bits. If you try it, experement first. luck G
