Not sure if you know these guys but they are a motorcycle stunt team ( words used loosely ) from the UK they go under the name of "The Purple Helmets " I kid you not and they perform at outdoor events across the UK in spring / summer . I,ve seen them many a time at the Isle of Man TT Races and even shared a pizza with them at 6am in the morning after another big night at the TT , and yes they were out on the town on the beer dressed like that , all 12 - 16 of them .

That-a-boy Otto...   Now I'm not a big fan of screens either but does that truly matter, hell no it doesn't.
As mentioned, to each their own, no other way to put it...
That's the beauty of what we do here... Dream, build, create and make it real no matter what others think...Some will think, Whoa, way cool while others will go :X...
Sure, quite a few feel my KZ is total crap where I should have done this or that but my philosophy on it, not their bike... It's mine damn it...
Don't like the head light, too bad... Don't like the paint color theme, too bad, don't like all the buffed out aluminum, too bad... And why.... I didn't build it for them, built for me, for my taste, for what I envisioned.
Or in your case, keep from bug splatter...
Small screens won't do much for bug protection so you'll need to decide, do or don't. If do, then what would look somewhat presentable in your eyes/mind set is all that matters...
Hey Loco, have one of those motorcycle Creativity posters?
Example, you think this guy cares what others think....

The 400 delux had a fairing, windscreen and saddle bags. Neat little bikes. I put the highway bar from one on my 440, I had a covented pair of saddle bags from a delux, but decided I didn't want them on my bike so I sold them for a small fortune.
If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Here's the one I used for years. It worked well, especially on long rides. It needed to be about 2" higher to keep the rain completely off your face. I never used a face shield and don't recall bugs being a problem.
