73 Paint was created by ironpan65
Anybody know where a guy can get a stencil to reproduce the paint pattern that I could give to my painter for a 1973 Z1 900 Tank?
He says he can do it without.....but I would like it to be as close to stock as possible

The originals were masked by hand, so there was a fair amount of variation between each set of bodywork.

I saw 2 brown and orange 73's repainted by John & Dave Connery of Connery's Custom Paint in Toronto yesterday.
www.connerycustompaint.com or 416-285-7376. I had 3 of 'em over the years and they both looked good to me.

Thanks for the info :cheer:

Knowing that the Originals were masked by hand takes off some of the pressure :woohoo:

Looks good.....Very nice color match!

Sorry I did not see or reply to this post in the beginning. The original factory stripe layout looks like it was done by hand due to stripes being a bit wavy. But they are too consistant from tank to tank in placement and width to have been done without some sort of stencil or mask or template or guide at the factory. It is always best to give a painter original factory painted parts to use as reference, but I realize this is not always possible. I supply detailed dimensioned sketches when I sell paint for the 73's and would be happy to mail just the sketches to anybody that needs them.

Yes...the detailed dimension sketch would be helpfull when masking the lines....I just gave him a bunch of pictures to use..
If One was to get picky...the bottom front curve on the tank is a little low...But the Bike is NOT a 100 percent restoration....Again I like how it turned out
