so question on how to fix my seat without buying a new one. The U seat latch on the seat pan on my 76 kz900 is either rusted out or broken off and the PO put in some kind of bolt/pin thing that doesnt work or even come close. can/how would you find/install a new u latch/hook so it connects to the seat latch on the frame?
thanks!

Can you simply install a replacement seat catch?
The diagram at Kawasaki.com shows that the hardware bolts on.

If the pan is rusted out it's probaly time for a new seat,if it's the latch just get a new one. Z1 and Ebay are your friends!

Just a thought, the Z1 seat uses a 'bolt/pin' for the seat latch. Are you sure it isn't a Z1 seat rather than a KZ seat?

it must be a z1 seat then, but it looks like it has the place to bolt on the kz catch. I have been checking around and havent found just the catch plate yet..I may have to buy the whole seat.
thanks for the input!
