i am helping my buddy do front and rear conversions on his kz 1000.after we got those done he decides he wants a flush mount gas cap.another buddy of ours works for a rollback dumpster hauler and he comes up with a rz350 tank outta the dumpster.so my budddy cuts the cap and area around it out, then hacks a matching hole in his ltd tank and i tig welded it in for him.it turned out pretty nice and follows the lines of the tank pretty well i think.someday when we get it finished i will write up the entire build.here is the tank,

How is he venting the tank? I don't know about the Rz's but, IIRC, newer bikes have a tube running inside tank from the cap area to the back/bottom of the tank that vents to the atmosphere.

it has a tube that looked to me like a drain back for any excess gas that got in the recessed area around the cap,it would also allow it to vent to the atmosphere as well i guess.it was only around two inches long.my buddy cut it off to about an inch and a half.but the gas cap had a small hole(.050 thou or so)in the bottom and looks like it could vent around the lower edge of the cap.
