Another product that is available that works extremely well and withstand direct engine heat is DOT 5 silicone brake fluid! Now before you freak out, understand that allot of your plastic, vinyl, and rubber care and restore products are silicone based. Dot 3 and 4 brake fluids will trash about anything they touch. I have used dot 5 on engine paints plastics, vinyl's and any rubber. This is one of the little tricks I used to earn a western division class champion title through ISCA (International car show association) and the high award possible through the NCRS (national corvette restorers society)
Dot 5 is silicone in it's purest form and last along time. it is by far the best thing I found to restore color and softness and when used on a painted engine it will stay.If you put on to much it will look greasy. Just wipe the excess. I will say agin Dont use DOT 3 or 4 brake fluids.

Have you guys ever tried MOTHER'S brand "BACK TO BLACK" on faded plastic parts, such as switchgear, etc? It's marvelous stuff.

OK Guys
I am surprised that no-one has posted to say they have used Peanut Oil, you could have at least tried it!!!

I did try another product here in the UK- Simoniz "Back to Black"- sort of works OK on car bumpers.

For me the peanut oil is a winner!!!!

Please post back if you have tried it yourself!!!
