Peanut Oil- I can't believe it works!!!!

Hi Just Hijacked part of Bakes- Z1 Enterprises thread from a month ago where he says that the Honda boys use peanut oil on back plastic body parts.
I was very skeptical but it sure as hell worked on airbox that had turned grey/ white in big patches. Needs a few applications a fair bit of rubbing but the result is very good. Don't know why it works but I am sure that some chemist out there could probably explain the reason.

No I didn't take pictures before I started as I didn't think it would work.
Difficult to get pure peanut oil over here as we don't grow peanuts in the UK although I think some ground nut oil is mainly peanut.
Managed to buy peanut oil from a fishing tackle shop where I think they use it as a bait additive for carp fishing. I am not a fisherman so don't know if it is any good for that.
I will find another plastic part and photo before and after.

It doesn't take much imagination to visualize what it looked like before - all a guy has to do is look at his own bike. hee.

I hadn't heard that before. I might try that on my controls as they are black plastic.

Can the peanut oil be used? As in previously used for cooking. If so, then I have a lifetime supply. Got about 4gal. left over from fried turkeys. MMMMM!
