Painting plastic was created by cuskaw74
I am painting soon and instead of farming it out I am doing my own this time. I already have everything I need except for the knowledge of what I need to do to make sure that I don't mess up when painting my side covers and tail. since they are plastic I know that there is an additive but which one? and is there anything else I need to do as far as prep.

Any painters out there?

as long as you just block the existing paint out good and use it as a base you should be able to just use a good primer/sealer on side covers and tailpiece B)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

I am using new pieces that have never been painted. Does that make a difference?

new pieces will be easy. Once you have them cleaned off with a spray and wipe of brake clean, or some solvent to clean off any grease, tack cloth it, then spray "adhesion promoter" then once that is dry you can add some primer and paint.

If the plastic is new, it will have some oil on it from the molding process. It is very important to clean the plastic thoroughly before painting.

As mentioned... ADHESION promoter is a MUST on bare plastic/chrome. And always.... PREP IS EVERYTHING!
Use 2 part clear, not can clear....

Follow the link, same concept as painting on chrome....
