Looks like we have been doing the same chore.

I had to make a tab for my side cover. I found a piece of plastic and three plied it to get the right thickness. I welded it together with a red hot piece of wire.

After i got it on the side cove with epoxy i rounded it off with a grinder so it would fit.

It was a little cool in the shop for this chore but warmed up nice this afternoon. Now my side covers match.

I used Bondo to repair the area around the broken tab. Roy

yeah I used a piece of cork to sit in behind the tab to keep it in place. The ABS cement bonded quite nicely with the plastic of course, and it soaked into the wood due to corks porosity which in turn helped bond it to the plastic.

This fairing is half built out of FiberTech on to a plastic GPZ fairing. I wouldn't mess with anything els. I use it to re-bond broken side cover tabs, repair cracks and build complete new sections.

This fairing which I am building for my Kz1300 and started out life as a 83 GPz1100 fairing is all FiberTech on top of plastic. some of it is as much as 1.5" thick in the top of the headlight opening, built up on a cardboard template. This two inch section was built up over a cardboard template and than the cardboard removed using water.

I buy it at Carquest which is a Automotive paint and body supply chain store. I also buy all of my PPG pain there. I would call around to see which auto-body supply caries "Evercoat" materials. "Evercoat" is a competitor to "Bondo". I have not seen anything even close to this made by bondo. I just buy the small tube #100634 Tube. The stuff is not cheap but it is the best and goes a long way. With this stuff you get what you pay for. I also buy "Kevlar pulp" and "Chopped Graphite" as fillers. That way I can make fillers with the consistency of my choice. however the Fiber Tech is the best "out of the container" filler I have ever used. I have used it on every conceivable type of material imaginable, with the exception of Poly Ester Foam, with which it will not work.
