hi everybody my buddy was getting a dent out of my kz650 b3 tank-he used the compressed air method but it flared out the sides of the tank-now tank wont fit on the conet-ors at the front says he is going to rachet strap it and see if it will go back .if not does any body know if a 1980 kz 550 standard tank is compatable wih the 79 650 or does any body know any tricks for returning it to its origanal condition...thanks mike....

using air to blow out dent's in tanks is always a bad idea same as using water and freezing it you have no control what has happened is that you have actually sttreched the metal you will be better off trying to find a different tank sorry brother.

I did the same thing one time and got it to go back with ratchet straps, Big Big ones you need to reverse them so one pulls one way and the other pulls the other. It will spring back so you need to over do it to get it where you need it. The metal on the straps can damage the tank also. Next time put straps on it before the compressed air. It is a pain in the ass but can be done

Hello Mike, if all fails, and to add insult to injury, I don't believe the 550 tank will fit on the 650 frame...

when we check waste and vent piping on new construction we fill it most of the way with water 1st,then we put a little air on top of it so its easier to control.air pressure is a dangerous bomb to say the least. B)

Still recovering,some days are better than others.
