Stripes On The 83' GPZ1100

This Winter, I hope to repaint my 83' GPZ1100, as it has a few (small) scratches and the clearcoat is deteriorating. My question is, Are the stripes available and where would the best place to get another set of the stripes be? I haven't called the Kawasaki dealer, because I wasn't sure about prices. I also thought that IF someone here had painted them on and clearcoated over them, I'd like to hear how that went AND possibly see some photos to see how they were. I HAVE found the decals that go on the side covers, but that's all so far.

If it was me, I'd paint the stripes on. I painted the black stripes on mine and clear coated over them. I'll be doing the same when I paint my Honda in the next month or so.

True, and I knew about that one and the only thing they have for the 83' - 84', is the side cover decals.

Another question I have is, IF I were to repaint the bodywork AND use the Graphics set, would it work, to spray some clearcoat over it? I didn't know if it would be advisable to do it that way or not. Now, if the stripes were actually painted on, instead of getting one of those sets, then I'd do the clearcoat thing, without a 2nd thought.

The decals are designed to be clearcoated. However, you should be aware that the reviews are mixed with regards to the quality of the decals. Some people have complained while others found no fault with the quality. I have a set (from the site I posted) for the 1982 GPz750, but have not yet applied them so I cannot speak from a position of strength. The bottom line being that I believe that the site I sent you is the only site manufacturing the decal set.

Well, I have no idea what Kawasaki used to get for those, but for $175.00, I'm hoping that (if I get to get a set) they are good enough to make it worthwhile.

Gotta make a person think about having them painted on, but there would still be some pieces that you'd need and the only other ones I've seen, are the ones for the side covers. I DO want it to look it's best, you know?
