77 kz1000 makeover was created by jordan
In an earlier post, i had pictures of a buddy's 1977 kz1000 that he picked up for a mere $700. Pretty good condition, just missing sidecovers, and the paint was faded badly on top of the tank and tail. He wanted something really nice, adn i was willing to build it for him. After a few hundred dollars here and there, the bike has transformed into a very fun, and beautiful bike. I will get some pics of the bike together, but here are some of the progress and parts picture

first mods were dragbars, and got rid of the king/queen seat

brand new Vance and Hines sidewinder exhaust

34mm flatslides, made a huge difference! great response and topend is night and day difference. SPendy but well worht it IMO

And finally the paint. I painted this bike myself, using an HVLP gun, and Hot Hues purple rhapsody paint, adn dupont clear. This was my first paint job that didnt come out of a can, and i think it turned out very well. These pics are before any buffing

A little buff buff and you'll be looking good. Those sidewinders are fun having to make your own brake pedal. Or are you putting set backs ? I think the kicker hits em too .. Nice Bike and work....

made a brake lever already, but still not sure of what to do about the kicker. Could always pull off the baffle tube if the battery was dead and electric start wouldnt work

we bought them new from schnitz racing. They were very easy to install, and havent had to adjust them at all yet. Starts up great, and pulls hard, especially up top.

Another 8 dollar paint job !:woohoo: Long live the rattle can ! Now adjust your valve clearance's to less than .003 all the way around and your good to go. Splitting shims is where it's aT. No matter.........glad you kept the bike alive. Thats the most important thing. You know.........OMR was going to paint his bike lavender. Then went with orange. Dude swings both ways. Ride safe.

not another 8 dollar paint job. I used dupont chroma black base, under hot hues purple rhapsody, followed by dupont chroma clear. I used a 1.0 tip on my hvlp gun also

haha, the 1.0 tip actually worked great. It doesnt apply much material very fast, but for motorcycle tins it works great.

My appologies Jordan. I read MR. Numbnuts post and didn't see you used Dupont instead of Duplicolor. You used quality products and they should hold up fine. Mr. Numbnuts used crap and gloats about it. Sorry for the confusion. The hot hues colors are good. I use the Hot Rod black often. Which clear did you use ?
