I'm refurbishing the old "Bates" hard bags that came on my ST and the inside is fairly nasty so I was looking to clean them up and paint the inside. Any tips on what type of paint to use? I was thinking Krylon as its supposed to stick to plastics but it isn't quite the same thing. I do have some tremclad high heat enamel left... and I'm cheap
Any help is appreciated!

Dang still no edit... I was also wondering what sort of glue would be used to attach the rubber weatherstripping that goes on to keep the lid water tight? It looks almost like the stuff that was on there was your basic caulking but I'm not sure that would be right

How about some of that Rhino Liner that they spray truck beds with.
I'd use some silicone adhesive to put on the seal.

The 3M "Gorilla snot" (yellow adhesive) will make anything stick well. For something you can later remove, maybe some of their double faced tape.

Another option if they're really fiberglass is boat deck paint. Ed

get yourself a can of rustuleum(spell check)industrial enamel and a paintbrush for the inside of the bags, you can throw a little thinner in it if you want.i use this stuff on dumptruck frames and anything else that takes a severe beating that i dont want to have to paint all the time!

The key to getting paint to stick to the backside of lamitated fiberglass is scuffing the surface. Those bags look like molded glass though. 3M yellow gorilla snot is labeled weather strip adhesive and can be found at an automotive body shop/paint supply store.

POR-15 works really well. It comes in different colors and dries rock hard. Just be sure to wear latex or vinyl gloves so you don't get it on your skin. It takes a week for it to wear off.
