Front Trapezoid Master Cylinder

I'm going to be rebuilding the front master cylinder, and it is in need of new paint. Once I strip all the old paint, or what is left of it, what would be a good route to go. Should I use a type of spray paint, have it powder coated...? Also, what type of finish should the paint be? Flat, semi-gloss, etc..., I think semi-gloss. I'm hoping this will have it working and looking like new. I would rather not give a lung for the cost of a rebuilt unit from Redline.

The trouble with painting a master cylinder is that if brake fluid ever leaks, or spills, it quickly eats into the paint, and causes it to bubble up and flake off. So if powder coat is more resistant to brake fluid, and can be applied without damaging the M/C, then that may be the best way to go. As for which finish, personally, I would go with a semi-gloss or satin finish.

I'm not a paint expert. Maybe a satin powdercoat would do well.

If you do the dot5 routt you don't need to worry about paint. Do your semigloss and it will be fine.

Another option is to just remove the paint and polish the aluminum. Looks great, but you've just added another love chore to your machine.
