I have a 1979 KZ1000 Mk2 and want to know what the stock paint looked like on this bike for this year so I can get it painted.
I have had the bike for 7 years and it was just plain black when I got it. Its been in my garage for the past five years just sitting there. (due to having a child and needs must and all that) Now it time to bring the beast back to life and give it a paint job, back to how I remember them first time around all those years ago.
Cheers.

Hello, welcome. Does that sidecover say 'Shaft' on it? If so, then you do not have a MKII but rather an 'E' model. The paint schemes are quite different.
Yes, it does say shaft. well ill be blowed!!
Just had a look and it says "KZT00E" on the head stock.
OK, which is the right paint job for that one please?
What's the difference between the "Mk2" and the "E" bike wise not paint?

...the first picture I posted was the shaft. They look the same at first glance in a lot of the styling, but all is different. Different forks, wheels, instruments, all bodywork, seat, handlebars, airbox all is different between the models
