what to do...
30 Apr 2009 13:19
So I'm switching to a regular KZ seat on my police bike... but the seat has that upside down "U" shape in the back. I don't want to buy a tailpiece so I was gonna ask around on here for some suggestions on how to fill in that gap. Or some reassurance that it won't look too awkward

Reason those kind of questions don't get answered sometimes is that no one knows the answer. Very few people have tried to replace a police seat with another model. My guess after 30 yrs plus of KZs is a regular seat will not even bolt up, so filling the back in may be the least of your worries.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

well at least someone replied this time
I have another KZ seat that I bought but didn't like... It sits on the frame the right way, the hook ups don't match, of course, but I'm honestly not worried about modifying it to fit... The one obstacle I did see was the back, but perhaps I can figure that out as well.
Thanks, though. I'll post pics of what I find out... good and/or bad.

Saw your post about the seat change-out on your Police Bike.
How did it work out? I have a 1979 KZ1000-C2 and am considering fitting on a Corbin Gunslinger seat that was designed for a KZ1000 civilian frame.
All the Best,
Poncho
