Can you have something powdercoated that has been

Was curious if you can have something powdercoated that has had bondo on it? My swingarm has a few really deep gashes and i am going to have it powdercoated,was wondering if i could bondo them first?
Watch it folks,i have sticky fingers when it comes to a nice looking set of handle bars:)

not that im aware of anyway,have you tried filing/sanding the scratches out?:(

Bondo will probably melt (or any filler not metal) when the powder coat is in the oven for curing.

Welding the gashes will actually change the strength of the steel. I would recommend having them brazed up, then ground down. Any good welding shop can do this.

No......however there is a material powder coaters use to fill imperfections that isn't affected by heat.

The heat is part of it, ability to conduct electricity is the other part. Look up "lab-metal". I've tried JB weld and it didn't do too well, JB quick weld won't do at all due to low temperature tolerance.

Go to ACE, Home Depot or Lowes, they carry brazing rods and do yourself,... It's not that hard. Time consuming yes, hard no.

You'll need a blow torch, the hand held ones you buy for plumbing works just fine. I picked up a better one at Harbor freight with adjustable flame/tip settings.

Fill a little, let cool, fill some more let cool, fill until above surface level than grind and sand...

i think his swingarm is aluminum guys,no brazing that one.maybe findsomebody who can tig weld it.:(

They have aluminum brazing rods as well... :dry:

Hell, I brazed my covers, then sand and buff out....
