Just dropped the bike. was created by Daedulus1981KZ750
while trying to put it on it's centerstand. Was being foolish so I payed the price.

The only damage to it was the gas tank has a major dent and the paint has been chipped severely.

Im trying to find a replacement tank for a 1981 KZ750-H

even a modified/updated one will do. I've been scouring the internet for one but they are all banged and bruised.

Thanks in advance...

Meanwhile, with tank empty, could try rubbing the dented area with dry ice.
Might also consider a "paintless dent repair" servicer who has special tools for removing dents by pressing from the inside, and pulling on the outside with suction cups, super-glue gadgets, etc. Or maybe diy.

Whether existing tank or replacement tank, likely to need "body-work" and repainting.
Mint condition used tanks in correct color are sometimes hard to find and expensive.

Depending on its interior condition, might also be a good time to recondition inside of tank.

There are some professional painters among KZR members who do fantastic work, including restoration to orignal colors if desired! :cheer:

Good Luck! :)

Just in case...

The tank from these bikes should work:
81-83 KZ750-Ltd-4; maybe the 80 model as well.
81-83 KZ650-CSR; the 81 CSR petcock bung is in a different spot - more forward I believe.

This tank didn't sell. 83 KZ650-CSR . It may still be available.

FWIW, KZ750 LTD models 80H1, 81H2 and 82H3/4 reportedly had oem "Ebony" tank color, with the 81H2 also offered in "Luminous Midnight Red." :cheer:

awesome info, i was really in a scurry when i saw it tip. after actually looking at it while calm and collected, i decided it's going to be alot easier to repair than buy a new one. i thought the dent was A LOT worse than it actually is. so no worries! it'll be ship shape soon enough. And i just found out that one of my family friends is a body work specialist.

Thanks again for your insight.
