Eaglecrash2 - something is wrong if you're reading 7000RPM at 80MPH. A stock '77 KZ650 should be turning 6000RPM at 80MPH. Assuming your tires haven't been changed to a size much different than stock I suggest one of the following is true: The tachometer is wrong; the speedometer is wrong; the clutch is slipping; someone has already changed the sprockets to something other than stock ratio. I say this because at a 7000rpm/80mph ratio the engine would need to turn at 10,500 rpm at 120mph when in fact a stock '77KZ650 turns 9,000rpm at 120mph. Before I started changing sprockets I would find out what's causing the discrepancy.

yes i just noticed that i don't ride the little bikes much but i have ridden a few,at that kind of rpm to do the speed limit my hands would be numb in less then 10 minuetes it sounds to me the gears you have on ther are more for hillclimbing then street riding check them out and let us know how many teeth are on there.
