Early GPz paintwork was created by Mcdroid
So, I was sitting in my garage last night...smoking a cigar and drinking a beer (cleaned the garage on Sunday and I was admiring my handiwork) and I have several GPz fuel tanks sitting side-by-side (specifically, a 1982 GPZ750 and a 1981 GPz1100)...both the tanks are NOS that I snagged on eBay. I noticed that stripes (which are painted rather than decals (the tail stripes on these models are decals)) are different widths...the 1981 KZ1100-B1 are wider than the 1982 KZ750-R1 tank stripes. My question is, can someone who has either 1982 KZ1100-B2, 1981 KZ1100-B1, or 1982 KZ750-R1 w/original paint, measure the width of the stripes (front and then rear) and then post those measurements? I have a decal KZ1100-B2 kit from www.afegraphics.com and the width of their decals matches the 1982 750 tank. I'm curious if I had an anomalous paint job on my NOS 1981 tank.

I have a spare GPz 1100 tank, ugly but original paint, not sure if it's 81 or 82, but it's red with a dark blue stripe bottom and a silver stripe top.

The stripes measure 74 mm/2.913" front and 61mm/2.401" at the rearmost which is around the bend at the rear of the tank.

Both measurements are taken perpendicular to the stripes - let me know if you need the width of the individual stripes.

Thanks for answering...you have a 1982 tank...I find it interesting that I have a 1981 tank that has the stripes (blue on top, silver on the bottom) that has the same width pattern (e.g. wider stripes in the front and narrower at the rear of the tank). I wonder if this is just poor paint quality control or this is the effect Kawasaki wanted. The aftermarket replacement decals are the same width throughout...

Given that both my 82 and your 81 tank have the same layout I would think that's how Ma Kaw orginally intended it. If you hadn't mentioned it I would never had noticed, guess the aftermarket suppliers didn't either.
