Paint Scheme for my next bike. Help/advise

My new dragbike project is coming together and i am piecing together the chassis. It is a 1979 kz1000. I am preparing to paint the tank, side covers, and a z1 tail. I am planning on mimicking the brown/orang paint job from the 74 z1a i believe. This bike has been my inspiration for the paint job.



I have done some research and have read that copying kawis paint job is very difficult to do. I really dont care if it looks exact but would like to keep the old school style . I think i want to go with a root beer brown metallic paint from House of Kolor, kinda looks similiar to the color honda started using frequently in a few of their vehicles. I have not done a whole lot of painting. I got the bondoeing, priming, and sanding down but dont have alot of experience with paint. Can or should a metallic paint like this be wet sanded? Also, with the z1 decals, should the clear be put over the decals or should the decals be put on top? If i choose to have the local body man do the clear coat, is it ok to let the tank sit for 24+ hours before applying the clear or does it have to be done soon after paint?

ive been told that mopar has a brown and orange from 60s-70s that really close to both colors.
