KZ1000/650 ducktail mod complete!!!!
15 Sep 2008 09:19
Got to thank my dad for the nuts and bolts and the galvanized steel sheet. The mod was pretty easy. I just bolted the steel plate ( about 1/16 thick but sturdy) to the 650 tail, then very carefully eyed where I needed to drill for the 2 threaded holes on the rear where the original tail bolted to. I also used a zx6e tail light. Idea came from RstNick. The md itself cost me about $150. The tail was from Eaby $18. Light from Ebay $10. Decals from Reproductiondeclas.com $22. Paintjob at the local body shop $80. He did a nice job with the decals and the clear coat. Im no good at painting so I left it up to the pros. I did however paint the Kerker logo on my badgeless Kerker header, hehehe!!!!

She does look great!
I got the tail light idea from others on site here, Mark Wing and RRRR have them as well as others.
I did mount my tail light upside down though.

i'm trying to do this too - but i got a kz650 SR frame - and this makes it hard to fit the ducktail. if anyone got pictures of their frame without the seat on - or perhaps close ups of the ducktail mounts on the frams i'd be very grateful

Best thing to do is get the tail you want from ebay and when you get it hold it up to your bike and brain storm a way to fit it on your bike!!!!
