Saddlebags for KZ650SR (D2)

Hey all,

I'm looking to take my bike for a trip this spring/summer, and I am looking for some saddlebags for my 650SR, but I've never had to buy these before. Anyone have any tips on bags that would fit my bike properly. The rear turnsignals are the stock signals. The only mod is a luggage rack/sissy bar set up that takes the place of the original grab rails.

Your thoughts, as always, would be appreciated.

You can probablly make most sets fit with some custom brackets.

I was lucky to find a set of Shoei Hard Bags that a fellow KZR member no longer wanted. They were on his '78 650SR, and I put them on my '78 650C. The stock rear turn signals had to come off. The Shoei Bags have turn signals built into them.

Thank for the reply, rstnick.

I like the look of your hard bags. Do you know the model number or name on those bags? (Oh and your paint scheme is great).

I'll look into hard bags, but most soft bags of the right size will fit?

I used a set of Vetter bags that a co-worker had on his KZ1000. A little massaging here and there and they work great. Retain the stock tail lights but you relocate them to the bracket for the bags.

Great. I hadn't thought of moving the lights to the bag mounts. That is really helpful. Good to see another Washingtonian on the forum.
