Gas tank treatment
20 Aug 2008 21:20
After watching the Z1 movie. Has anyone tried galvinzing the gas tank. The guy in the movie was doing that and it seems like a good idea. What do you think?

Galvanizing is actually a Zinc coating done either in a hot plating tank or done in a cold process. I dont think your paint would survive the hot process.
Both might require a sandblasting or metal etch done with acid to make the zinc bond with the steel of the tank.
I'd look at either the Kreem sealant kit for gas tanks sold at the bike shops or another one called Por-15 that can be found at www.por15.com

This is for a bare tank. So I'm not worried about the paint. I've used Por15 on another tank. So far so good. But like in the movie, I think galvinazing would be the best method. Just wandering if anyone has tried it yet.
