1978 Project 650 SR; 2 bikes and never enough time or $
Asheville, NC
77 KZ650B chain guard was created by Austinroots
Anybody know what year or models chain guards fit a 77 KZ650B? My current one is in need of replacement and I was thinking of perhaps trying to purchase a chrome one. I know, I know "chrome don't get you home". Any help would be appreciated.

Yea, KZ650B-C-F used the plasic guard, The chrome was used on the SR etc. Stay plastic for the best chaingaurd. Chrome may look "better" but works "like crap".

Evokes memories of a time when fully enclosed
drive chains were common, where chain durability,
maintenance, and messy rear wheels presented
fewer issues. But don't recall these covers ever
being accused of looking cool.

An KZ650 SR (D) model's chrome guard, like Voodoosoup's above will work, you just need a little bracket for the rear mount like he has done. I've gone back and forth from the plastic to the chrome several times depending on how I wanted it to "look".
Currently I'm running without, as the swingarm I have at the moment doesn't have mounts for a chain guard. This "works like crap" even more so than the chrome one at keeping chain lube off the wheel etc.
Does open up the look in the rear though.
My next chain will be Gold for "looks".
