I haer Plasti-Kote is great, but cannot find any here in Calgary.
Any success stories would be greatly recieved.

I have heard that Laquer is better for beginners, after I had already used Enamel. Oh well...
Laquer will not paint over Enamel without some bad chemical reactions!!! (correct me if I am wrong all, please.) All other combinations are acceptable. (laquer over laquer, enamel over laquer, enamel over enamel)
You have not mentioned your Pre-prep. May I offer un-asked for advice of completely stripping the old finish, down to the metal.

I painted my car with Tremclad and loved it. I would have done the bike with it too but I didn't see the colours I was looking for. Here are a pic of the bike and car.

After 30 posts or so on all the problems you had rattle can painting you still think it was worth doing? Not trying to start a war as I'm sworn to keep my lips zippered, but my gosh.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

What I'm saying is that I hope more of the guys and gals here will feel free to share their experiences on the subject without being made to think that it is wrong or stupid or irrational even to attempt to make their projects end up with the best possible results that can be achieved by whatever medium that is affordable to each one's means.
I hope we can get past this and get on with working to make some of the previously neglected bikes look beautiful again.

Yup, would have had it no other way Guys. I learned tons and am proud of what I have accomplished.
Yes, I ended up spending twice what a body shop would have charged, (don't even get me started about the time).
Fortunately I didn't do it to save money.

If done correctly (prep and painting) there's no way in hell you can tell the difference. Unless your bike is for show room examinations, rattle can works fine.
Paint itself is not normally GAS resistent but the clear coat is.
